Where in the world
has L.V. Harkness been?
Istanbul
is one of the many cities visited by this intrepid group of
travelers/buyers! They liked it so much that they decided to bring a
slice of Turkey to Lexington, and so a Turkish Bazaar will come to the
Bluegrass
in the late spring. We have been working hard to prepare an event
filled week to showcase Turkey’s distinct culture. Known as the bridge
between east and west, it does indeed stand with one foot in
Europe and one in
Asia. Renowned for unrivalled hospitality and
fabulous cuisine,Turkey
also boasts some of the world’s most beautiful rugs, jewelry, and
textiles. The week will be filled with information on Turkish culture,
history, and product, from lectures on Turkish cuisine and customs by
various dignitaries to a stunning array of rugs, jewelry, textiles,
etc. Guests can also taste the flavors of
Turkey,
as a sampling of regional food will be provided.
We are honored to host
Hakan Evin, who has worked with some of the world’s most
distinguished homes, including the White House (both in Washington
and in Texas). He will speak on the history and culture of various
rugs (Turkish, Kurdish, Persian, Caucasian, Sumak, and Kilim).
The festivities will include receptions, luncheons, and various
talks. Please call 225.7474 for more information. |
