With
the coming
of this year’s Lexington Antiques and Garden Show in March, it is good
to reflect on our past and continuing support for this event that
benefits the Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation. For many of
the patrons of the Close, this is an important annual occasion. Close
members have long been associated with the Trust and supporters of its
activities.
John Martin of Greentree Antiques & Tearoom provided the Holiday Teas
at the Hunt-Morgan House, the bestknown property of the BGT, for
several years before the close came into being. At that time, Gay
Reading, another partner in Greentree, was on the Trust staff, having
previously been a board member (indeed, his association with the Trust
goes back to its earliest days). Former Greentree partner Karen
Hollins is now chair of the Hunt-Morgan House Committee and a board
member. |

L.
V. Harkness was the inaugural sponsor of the designer lecture and
table décor luncheons that have become such a popular feature of the
March event. They supported this for several years and have recently
provided tours of this aspect of the weekend.
Belle Maison Antiques and Greentree Antiques are looking forward to
again participating with other members of the Lexington Antique
Dealers Association in its booth at the show featuring a glimpse of
what is to be found right here in Lexington. Greentree Antiques and
Tearoom will sponsor the show this year by again hosting a dinner
honoring the featured speakers and guests of the Trust.
As we continue our program of downtown rehabilitation and sensitive
infill, we hope that all of our friends with join in supporting the
BGT and its mission.
